4GB Kingston DataTraveler C10 USB Limited Edition Review

Being the second review of a Kingston USB we have done in a quite a short period of time we now have some form of starting point for comparison. Having a USB is something we all take for granted, they are cheap, very useful and most people would think they are all the same too? Well you’d be surprisingly wrong and no we are not talking about USB 2 vs USB 3 comparisons, there is also a huge amount of variation within the USB 2 interface of memory sticks. However, all that said we don’t expect to see this Kingston C10 USB to be much different the to the Kingston DataTraveler G3 we reviewed earlier, maybe there will be 10% in it at the most since this is a limited edition USB stick.

Currently you will be hard pressed to find a 4GB model of the Kingston Data Traveler C10 Limited Edition USB like the one we have reviewed. Although this isn’t necessarily a bad thing as 4GBs of storage doesn’t go as far as it used to. We found the 8GB variant was more common and great value working out at a total cost of £6.99 delivered which is just under £1 per GB – decent value for a memory stick. And again, with all consumer grade Kingston USB products you get a 5 year warranty and Kingston reliability to ensure that you probably won’t ever need the warranty. Unfortunately for those who dislike the design there is not much that can be done about that: this particular USB comes in one model only, no colour or design variations.

It is worth noting that the Kingston DataTraveler C10 Limited Edition supports Linux, Windows 7, Vista, XP and Mac OS out of the box with simple ‘plug-n-play’ technology. In the review we would like to cover only a few things as we always do and will do with USBs:

  • Practicality of Design
  • Value for Money
  • Performance (both absolute and relative)

Read on to see how the Kingston DataTraveler C10 Limited Edition USB performs in testing.
