CM Storm Spawn Gaming Mouse Review

The CM Storm Spawn Packaging

Packaging isn’t necessarily an important part of a product, as long as it gets from A to B without taking damage then it should suffice. However, it is nice to see a company that’s taken some time to make sure the packaging meets the standard of the product, so you feel like they value your custom and that they are a professional company. CM Storm have certainly done this, the packaging for the CM Storm Spawn gaming mouse is very good even if not much is included – but had they of included a software CD most people would complain about how it will probably be out of date so it makes sense that they just direct you to the website in the included quick start guide. In this case CM Storm’s simple yet attractive packaging was definitely a good choice.

The front of the box has a rather attractive design, using that trademark CM Storm red and black theme. Although, it seems to have come out more pink than red in our photos. As you can see from the box, the CM Storm Spawn is using the same onboard Sentinel-X macro memory as the rest of the CM Storm mice range, except with only 32KB whilst more expensive models like the Inferno get 128KB.

The back of the box contains even more detailed specifications, and its nice to see they have invested in good quality components like Omron switches (which can withstand over 5 million clicks) and Japanese scroll wheels, even though the product is relatively cheap. The trademark “ZOMG GOLD PLATED USB CONNECTOR” is also included for marketing hype.

Once you open the front of the box you get a glimpse of the mouse which is protected in some easy to open plastic casing. Additionally you get a labelled diagram of product showing off all the key features. We have included a close up picture below in case you find the image above hard to read.

The packaging contents are very simple, the mouse, a quick start guide and the box the product came in. They even included a USB cover to protect the “ZOMG SHINY GOLD” USB interface. How thoughtful.

So far so good. CM Storm’s attention to detail on the packaging bodes well for the quality of the product. Now we will move onto taking a tour of the actual product.
