Arctic Accelero L2 Pro VGA Cooler Review

Cooling on graphics cards is a balance between two key functions, the ability to keep the card at safe operable temperatures but whilst also being able to maintain acceptable noise levels. When a graphics card comes fitted with a reference cooler it is very often the minimum required in order to achieve an acceptable balance between those two. Consequently when you run applications which put your graphics card under intensive load you will find noise levels and temperatures start to rapidly rise. This is especially evident over long periods of time, as dust builds up these reference coolers become increasingly more inefficient and become even noisier and hotter. Anyway, the point we are trying to make is sometimes you need a third party cooling solution to improve cooling on your graphics card or to make it quieter, especially if it is starting to get old.

We are taking a look at a solution which promises to do exactly that. Arctic’s Accelero L2 Pro VGA cooler is aimed at low to mid range level graphics cards that have a thermal output of 100W or less so that includes the following models:

  • Anything up to the GTS 450 in Nvidia’s 400 series
  • Anything up to the HD 5850 in AMD’s 5000 series
(see full list of compatible cards on the next page)

The Arctic Accelero L2 Pro VGA Cooler boasts a mere price tag in the region of £12/$24 but we did succesfully manage to find it for a fantastic £9.58 delivered from here (price accurate at the time of writing). So we take a look at this cheap and cheerful VGA cooler and see if it is worth your money.
